Proposal

Americans are exposed to over 3000 ads a day and the number of commercials we watch roughly adds up to about 2 years of our lives. However many argue that that they are not influenced by the media. It is my opinion that the ads on billboards we see driving to work each day and the endless number of commercials we watch during reruns of our favorite tv shows are selling more than just products. They are selling an image of who we are suppposed to be; how we should think, feel, and act.
The sad part is most people refuse to recagnize how much media truley does affect thier lives. With this project, i plan to show exactly how much our live are affected by the ads on billboards, magazines, and television.
I already have a few ideas of how to accomplish this goal, but i still need to work it out alittle. A rough idea of what i was thinking is photographing people reading their favoritve magazines staring at ads of supermodels which they could never be, but maybe if they looked like this or acted like that they woulkd be alittle closer to that goal... i can picture it in my head but i can really puit it in words.... hopefully i'll be able to pull something off :) I'm thinking of doing this project in black and white because i like the effect but i may mix it up aliitle and try something different.
